Here in Southern Ontario, we’ve had much more snow this winter than in years past. The landscape is incredibly bright, even at night, which makes me a very specific sort of happy.
I adore the sparkle of individual flakes in a field of white, the way a thick layer of snow dampens city sounds, and hiking stamped-down footpaths among tall trees with our pup leading the way.
I made this journal page on a blustery afternoon a few days ago after an outing in my warmest boots and fuzziest mittens. It’s packed with tiny, colourful boxes and quick prompts for capturing the fleeting snippets of activity and awareness that whir by on a busy day.
In my journal, I’m always experimenting with new ways to explore the singular details of daily living. I love teasing them out, mining them for meaning and motivation, and marveling at their unique qualities, even if they’re part of well-established routines.
For this page, I’m playing with super-specific prompts that are also wide open to interpretation, depending on the events of the day. I can see myself returning to it often to see what sorts of themes and patterns emerge in my reflections.
I’ve attached it below for you to try — and, if you’d like to share, I’d love to know what you think!
